- Educators for Social Responsibility Educators for Social Responsibility offers professional development programs for teachers. They focus on such areas as conflict resolution, social and emotional learning, and prevention programming. Website registration is free, and the site provides access to lesson plans about international security, conflict resolution, peacemaking, violence prevention, and social responsibility.
- Fulbright-Hays Seminars AbroadFulbright-Hays sponsors month-long summer study programs for teachers of all levels in countries around the world. Applications are usually accepted almost a year in advance.
- The Global Education Collaborative (GEC) is a vast online network of educators and global community members committed to international education.
- Global Exploration for Educators Organization GEEO is a non-profit organization that helps and encourages educators to travel abroad. You will still have to pay your airfare but this organization provides lodging and puts together great tours.
- Institute for International Education: An independent not-for-profit founded in 1919, IIE is among the world's largest and most experienced international education and training organizations. We are committed to delivering program excellence to a diverse range of participants, sponsors, and donors.
- International Education Exchange - Specifically focus on teacher training in Rwanda. They set up one to one school partnerships and also use U.S. teachers as trainers in Rwanda.
- National Endowment for Humanities offers a wide range of overseas institutes and seminars for teachers during the summer.
- Primary SourcePrimary Source offers a wide variety of face-to-face and online programs for K-12 teachers on global topics and world regions. Although based near Boston, MA, a significant number of resources and online courses/webinars are available. Check back often for new courses.
- Teachers for Global Classrooms (TGC) Program provides a professional development opportunity for middle and high school teachers from the United States to participate in a program aimed at globalizing teaching and learning in their classrooms.
- Volunteers for Peace (VFP)Based in Vermont, VFP offers a wide range of service projects in over 100 countries. In addition to projects for adults, there are also some for families.
